We're thrilled to see so many worthy projects receive awards from IMLS this week! And we extend extra congratulations to the three METRO members who were named among the beneficiaries of this round of funding:
Brooklyn Public Library won a Sparks! Ignition Grant to build an internal BPL ncubator, which will streamline the process of planning programs for the citizens of Kings County. Their work will be in partnership with Bureau Blank, a local design firm.
New York Public Library received a National Leadership Grant for their work with DPLA to extend the reach of Library Simplified, an open source ebook platform.
New York Botanical Garden also received a National Leadership Grant to work for the great cause of sharing information about biodiversity via DPLA. The project will serve as a model for subject-based content hubs and will allow for targeted conversation around biodiversity.
We're also extremely proud that one of our sister councils -- the Central New york Library Resources Council (CLRC) -- received a Sparks! Ignition Grant for their work to upgrade and customize an open source tool called EADitor, which edits and publishes finding aids using EAD and XML.
Congrats all around!
