Archives and Library Leadership Network (ALLN)

The Archives and Library Leadership Network (ALLN) is a network of archives and library professional organizations of Greater New York that gather on a regular basis to build community ties, collaborate, and share issues and opportunities. Inspiration for starting this group came from within METRO’s 2008 Strategic Plan to make METRO a hub of dialog within the region on professional issues. ALLN members have been meeting regularly since 2009.

ALLN effectiveness of its group members by focusing advocacy, strategic planning and student membership. ALLN meetings provide benefit to our various constituencies, as well as providing opportunities for sharing ideas and collaborating across organizations.

Membership to ALLN is available by invitation. Members should be community-centered and have a goal to further the missions of its constituency and professions.

Over a dozen local organizations are ALLN members, including ACRL/NY, SLA NY, Archivists Round Table, The New York Library Club and the New York Chapter of the Art Library Society.

Representatives from ALLN organization participate in quarterly meetings. These reps should plan to provide reports to and from their organization's leadership. To ensure consistency over time, each representative serves a three year term. The president or a delegated executive board member is invited to the annual meeting held in the fall.

In Fall 2013, ALLN presented an afternoon forum for membership. Video is now available on the Fall 2013 ALLN Symposium page.

Working Groups
A subcommittee, composed of three to four volunteers from ALLN, may be appointed to assist with program development if necessary.

Communication and Documentation
Along with attendance at meetings, the ALLN email discussion list serves as a communication channel for ALLN members. Minutes are taken at each meeting and the organization/liaison chart is updated.
